Application made for installation to be in place for six months
February 26, 2026 A planning application has been submitted to Ealing Council for a Pokémon-themed “urban garden” on The Mount in the centre of Acton. It proposing a temporary installation that could remain in place from 16 March to 21 September opposite St. Mary’s Church. The scheme, lodged under reference 260451ADV, has been submitted by Electric Sheep Events Limited, a company specialising in PR stunts, experiential installations and entertainment-industry events. The application has been made as a request for advertisement consent, although the planning documents do not explain the wider purpose of the installation, and the company has not yet responded to requests for further information. The proposal sets out a series of decorative elements themed around Pokémon, one of the world’s most recognisable entertainment franchises. The installation would include a welcome sign incorporating Pokémon branding, attached to a living wall. Additional features would include four Pokémon character panels mounted on the living wall, two further characters displayed inside terrarium structures, an information board, four small interpretive signs and two CCTV notices incorporating Pokémon imagery. The application states that Electric Sheep Events is working with Your Acton Business Improvement District, which identified The Mount as a suitable location due to its focus on the space this year. The BID has been consulted on the operational plan, and the applicant says it has also discussed the proposal with My Local Bobby, which already provides security patrols at The Mount four days a week. The timing of the installation coincides with a major milestone for the franchise. Pokémon marks its 30th anniversary in 2026, and The Pokémon Company has confirmed a large Pokémon Presents broadcast for 27 February, expected to include announcements about new games and media projects.
Although no new film has been announced, the anniversary year is likely to see a wave of promotional activity, collaborations and public-facing events. The proposed Acton installation may form part of that wider landscape, although this has not been confirmed. Pokémon remains one of the most successful entertainment brands globally, spanning video games, trading cards, animation, merchandise and live events. Public installations and themed pop-ups have become increasingly common in recent years as part of marketing campaigns tied to anniversaries, game launches or special events.
Residents and businesses can comment on the application until 17 March.
