Friday Night Lights, a series of monthly immersive events, returns later this month with a theme of ‘Mental Health Through the Male Lens’.

Designed by Ealing-based Munchie Lunchie Productions in collaboration with HFEH Mind, the sessions aim to raise awareness, support and funds for mental health in west London by carefully blending art, film, theatre, culture and music.

The session on Friday 25 July picks up from the previous month when the issue was looked at from a female perspective. This event forms part of HFEH Mind’s Thirty for 30K Campaign aimed at driving thirty thousand conversations around mental health across west London.

Once again it is taking place at The Foundry Collective on Victoria Road, North Acton starting at 7pm.

The evening will feature; Short Film showcase of ‘Ashes of a Dying Ember’ which a fictional Syrian refugee in London who has taken to the woods after being the victim of a corner shop robbery gone wrong, and a short Screening of ‘I’m Still Here’, by Franc Vissers and Elizabeth Healey about homelessness in London during Covid.

There will also be an art installation from Humans Parked Illegally which supported the petition to the government to axe the Vagrancy Act for good and other exhibiting local artists include Manos Felice, Max Tyler and Alfie Hardman, Smurfy, Alaa Shasheet, David Samuel, Daniela Cezara Nikola.

There will be lived experience talks from Matt Main, Smurfy (SmurfyinSoho), Angus Regan, Sahir Khurshid and live monologues from Yeboah, Vigs, and Arun Jeet plus Live Painting by Daniela Cezara Nikola will feature on the night.

Karim Hadaya, founder of Munchie Lunchie Production says, “Art has the power to challenge stigma and spark real change and is our way of opening up space for stories that are often overlooked, stories of resilience, vulnerability, and survival. These conversations are not just important, they are urgent. We’re committed to using creativity and community to shine a light on mental health, especially as experienced by men, and to build platforms where honesty and healing can thrive.”

Jonathan Brewin Co-Founder of The Republic of Park Royal and The Foundry Collective added, “We're proud to be able to support and collaborate with Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing & Hounslow Mind and Munchie Lunchie Productions on their Friday Night Live series with us at The Foundry Collective in North Acton.

“At The Foundry Collective we strive to connect with the community, support creatives and encourage an open space for all to enrich our community. With FNL's second event focusing on mental health through a male lens we hope to create a platform to facilitate the discussion, experience and expression of male mental health.

“And an opportunity to engage, listen and connect with others through multiple artistic disciplines on male mental health topics that can be overlooked or are infrequently discussed.”
