The Rocket Pub on Churchfield Road is to host another round of Dinner & Open Decks.

This is a monthly daytime gathering where DJs jump on the open decks and share their sounds — whether they’re testing out a new mix or playing out for the first time. Hosted by ODHR Radio, the sessions tend towards Organic House, Afro House, and other feel-good beats.

This can be combined with a The Rocket’s Sunday roast and a pint or two and aims for a laid-back community feel.

The next session takes place from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday 11 May and entry is free.

Whether you’re a veteran behind the decks or just starting your journey, you are very welcome to bring your USB with your tunes but there is no pressure to play, you can just turn and enjoy the music.

Hutton Henry of the Rocket says, “The event was created to support local businesses, bring people together, and give new DJs a chance to play in front of a crowd in a relaxed setting. Since COVID, many people are spending more time at home, and I wanted to create something that encourages community and connection again.”

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
