Police ask for help in tracking down man linked to incident
Police are asking for help in tracking down a man they would like to question in relation to a fire in Acton Mosque in Oldham Terrace off Acton High Street. The incident took place on New Year's Day at approximately 1.30am. The fire was minor and was dealt with by the London Fire Brigade. It is being treated as an arson attack. It is believed a suspect climbed over the railings, broke a window and set fire to a number of pamphlets which were on a shelf. No-one was in the premises at the time and there were no injuries. The incident is also being treated as a racially aggravated critical incident as the word 'scum' had been sprayed on the front door. There was minimal damage. A Police spokesperson said: "This appears to be an isolated incident and Police are looking into all opportunities to identify the suspect involved. This includes viewing and comparing CCTV from the local vicinity against CCTV images of a man seen within the confines of Oldham Terrace Mosque around the time of the incident."
