An animated video in the style of an airline safety message has been produced for the children and parents of West Acton Primary School.

Years 1 and 6 are returning this week and the five minute film is designed to make the transition back to school easier for the children at this difficult time for them.

Featuring the voice of headteacher Ms Kondo, the new arrangements are carefully explained to the children who will need to be able to cope with circumstances very different from those they are used to.

The children are told that their existing forms will be split up into two groups of 15 and that they may have a new classroom and teachers. They are reassured “Don’t worry, we are all from the same West Acton family.”

Reminders are given about social distancing and washing hands with pupils reminded they need to do this when told by their teacher even if they think their hands are clean.

They are being introduced to the school’s new one way system and given instructions on the new arrangements in the school’s toilets.

Each child will have their own desk and will be supplied with pens and stationery. Exercise books won’t be used but work will be done on paper and kept in a folder.

A queueing system has been implemented to avoid crowding at drop off and pick up times with yellow lines painted on the ground for the guidance of pupils and parents.

Facemasks are not to be worn during the school day to avoid the children getting worried about losing them.

School uniforms have been ditched but the children will be expect to be dressed in a set of clean clothes every day.

There will be the usual lessons of English and Maths but the children may be taken out side for art, music and even yoga.

The video concludes with a message from the staff saying how much they are looking forward to welcoming the children back.
