A new writing group focusing on writing for performance will encourage budding scriptwriters to develop their work. The group will be meeting at Acton Library on the 2nd Thursday evening of every month.

This workshop-style group focuses on writing for performance: screenwriting, playwriting, radio drama and poetry. The idea is to have a lively group where work is read out or performed by guest actors.

After gaining a Diploma in Media Practice from Birkbeck, University of London, Acton resident Kate Buchanan decided to set up a group to help others. ‘One of the most rewarding experiences of some screenwriting classes is to hear your work read out by other people.’ She says, ‘You can hear the clunky dialogue and the bits of brilliance quite clearly.’

Although all forms of writing are welcome, the main focus will be on writing which is intended to be performed. This includes screenwriting, playwriting, radio drama and poetry.

The group meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6.30pm. For more information, contact Kate: offthepagelondon@gmail.com
