Acton Market and Local Business Partnership
The Acton Market isn’t just about the market. The official title is the Acton Town Centre Market Regeneration Project – a scheme that aims to regenerate Acton town centre through the Acton Market.

Already we’ve seen increased footfall on Saturdays as people come to shop. Mike Morris is the Business Development and Networking Officer for the Market Project. Mike is your link between local businesses and the Market. The aim, says Mike is that people come to the Market and visit other businesses in Acton during this trip. “The market will only work if we have the support of local businesses. My job is to work with local businesses and ensure that their voices are heard and their needs met.”

Mike is reviving the Acton Business Forum and hopes that it will create a powerful voice to speak up for Acton businesses. An event will be held for all Acton businesses on Monday 26th November in the George & Dragon, Acton High Street, at 5pm as a first step to creating this voice. There will be important speakers from Ealing Council who will explain what their plans are for the future of Acton.

The Pitch…
Trader Sheran George saw a gap in the market when she launched ‘Girls Like Us’ at the Acton Market earlier this year. Selling stylish, plus-size clothing for women, Sheran says she’s got clients coming specifically to the market to buy from her. “Our prices make the difference. Apart from party dresses, there’s nothing over £15.” And that seems to be a draw for bigger women who are looking for something more unique, without breaking the bank. Girls Like Us specializes in all types of clothing from going out clothes to casual jeans and trousers. “I love being at the market. It’s got more stability than having a shop. You’ll find Sheran and ‘Girls Like Us’ at the market on Saturdays from 10 until 4.
