Last week on Thursday numbers of Police and Ealing Council officers joined together in a multi-agency initiative to cut crime in Acton central.

Acton Central's new Safer Neighbourhood Police Sergeant Neil Anthony told us: "The initiative was set up primarily set up to address several issues affecting Acton including the problems caused by street drinkers but also attempted to alleviate issues regarding fly tipping grafitti waste disposal etc. A joint Police/London Borough of Ealing presentation held in the Market Place giving crime prevention, personal safety and property marking advice plus information on various LBE initiatives was attended by over 800 people during the course of 4 days.

"In addition outreach workers from various groups seeking to help the homeless and those dependent on drugs or alcohol also took part in an attempt to provide help and advice.to the individuals concerned. A local Magistrate also attended on two of the days and gave valuable advice and information on the workings of the Court system in addition to listening to the concerns of the community in respect of this.

Sergeant Anthony continued: "We received a great deal of positive feedback regarding the various initiatives."
