A car caused a substantial amount of damage to shops on Churchfield Road after the driver apparently lost control.

The four door silver saloon wiped out the canopy in front of JJ Food and Wine at number 40 near the junction with Burlington Gardens.

The incident occurred at around 4.30pm on Saturday (3 July) and required the road to be closed and the attendance of the emergency services.

It is understood that there were no injuries, including to the driver, and the police have not made an appeal for witnesses and no arrests have been reported.
