A traffic collision occurred at around 4.15pm today (26th March) at Savoy Circus by the junction with Old Oak Rd - just off the A40.

The driver of a Yamaha R6 motorbike was requested to stop and pull over by officers in a marked police vehicle, due to the manner of his driving. The driver refused to stop and the vehicle took off at speed in slow moving and heavy traffic. The marked police car pursued for a very short distance (a few metres) after which it became impossible to progress through the traffic.

The officers in the car became aware of a motorbike and a person - an elderly man - in the road at Old Oak Road. At this stage, officers believe the motorbike was in collision with an elderly male pedestrian. The rider made off, believed on foot, in the direction of the Flowers Estate, towards the White City Estate. A red, white and black crash helmet with 'FM' on it was recovered in Yew Tree Road, junction with Hillary Road.

The injured man has been taken by ambulance to Charing Cross Hospital with head injuries. His condition, at this early stage, is believed to be serious.

The rider of the motorbike is described as a black male.

Appeal number is Traffic Garage at Alperton 020 8246 9820 (or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111).
