Includes 9,000 new homes, new high street and over a kilometre of canal frontage
Cargiant, the car dealership which owns a 46 acre site in Old Oak in the north of Hammersmith and Fulham. between the Grand Union Canal and Willesden Junction, has revealed its first plans for a new development on the site, which it has named Old Oak Park.
The plans include 9,000 new homes, a new high street, public squares and a new green open space around over a kilometre of canal frontage.
There are also plans for health centres, offices and shops, a cultural quarter, new rail viaduct and a new Overground station called Hythe Road.
If the plans come to fruition, Old Oak Park will also benefit from some of the best transport links in London, containing the proposed Old Oak Common Rail hub connecting the Great West mainline with Crossrail and HS2.
The plans however, clash with those of Queens Park Rangers FC, who are currently drawing up their own plans for Old Oak which they are calling New Queens Park and which would have a new 40,000 seater stadium at its centre.
QPR have not yet responded to Cargiant's new accouncement.
Cargiant and development partners London & Regional Properties, who say the development will also create around 8,000 new jobs are inviting local people to view and discuss the plans, developed by design team PLP/Architecture and Arup, at a series of consultation events beginning on Thursday June 18.

Cargiant says the feedback from the consultation will help inform the evolution of the masterplan over the coming months before a further consultation on these more detailed plans after the summer break.
The announcement has been welcomed by Cllr Stephen Cowan, Hammersmith & Fulham Council Leader, who says: " Local people's views should be at the heart of decisions affecting the future of the community in Old Oak and this is a chance to make themselves heard.

He adds that Cargiant is looking at alternative sites in West London to relocate to, and it is envisaged that this relocation will happen in 2021 with work starting on site shortly thereafter.
