Spot Checks on Rubbish Collections |
and an extra garden waste collection (for those who have paid) It's three months since the new rubbish contractor, Enterprise, took over in Ealing but the council is still getting complaints about the service. Cabinet member Cllr Bassam Mahfouz and the Council Leader, Cllr Julian Bell, will be visiting various locations across the borough to ensure standards of waste and recycling collections improve and streets are clean. The controversial garden waste collection charge - introduced in April - has also encountered a number of problems. The council says it will be offering subscribers who have had a missed collection an extra collection. This will be funded by Enterprise and the council will write to those people affected. Cllr Mahfouz said: “We’ve been working hard over the past few weeks to ensure that enterprise continues to improve the service provided to residents and this has been evident in the massive progress that has been made. ''These additional steps show we are taking this seriously and that we are taking action. What residents want is a return to the excellent service we achieved as a Labour administration earlier this year but it is right and proper to offer an additional collection to garden waste subscribers for those people who have suffered a missed collection.” Cllr Bell said: “We’ve had unacceptable problems with the waste and recycling service provided by our new contractor Enterprise and the performance has not been at the level we would like. It is our top priority to make Ealing cleaner and exceed the record performance we had earlier this year. We are taking action to make sure that happens.”
