No Change at Stirling Road Re-use and Recycling Depot | |||||
Follows growing rumours that plant was going to close
Ealing Council say there are no plans to close either of the main recycling depots in the borough. There had been a growing number of rumours that the Acton Re-use and Recycling centre on Stirling Road in W3 was under threat. Some claimed that surveyors had been seen measuring the site and there were fears that it may be sold to property developers. However Ealing Council has sought to dispel the rumours saying the only plans that were being considered were those of changing the current layout at Stirling Road. Ealing Cabinet member for Environment & Transport Cllr Bassam Mahfouz told us: '' I can categorically state there have been no and are no plans to close our civic amenity sites at either Acton or Greenford. We had been looking at whether a change to the layout of the re-use and recycling centre on Stirling Road would improve the facility but this did not turn out to be the case. The centre will therefore remain as it is.'' The confusion may have arisen from an entry about Stirling Road (regarding the disposal of council properties) in Ealing Council’s Property Strategy. Ealing Council have now clarified this and tell us that this ' is the former Stirling Road day centre site which is listed on the property strategy and not the recycling centre.'
