Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious fail to stop road traffic collision in north Acton.

They were called at approximately 7pm to reports of the collision involving a pedestrian and a van that had occurred an hour earlier.

The incident occurred at approximately 6pm on Saturday 27th October on a pedestrian crossing in North Acton Road, junction with Wesley Avenue, NW10. The driver of the dark coloured van failed to stop at the scene.

The victim , a five-year-old Rachel Popoola, was walking with her older brother, her sister and cousins when hit by the van. The brother reportedly spotted the van speeding towards the crossing and managed to pull the other children to safety. Rachel was taken to a Central Middlesex hospital suffering multiple injuries including a broken jaw and leg. She has since been transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital and is in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating. There have been no arrests. Anyone who witnessed the collision or can assist police with their enquiries should contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton on 0208 998 5319.
