Collaboration brings international voices to St. Mary's for one-night concert
September 2, 2025 A joint performance by two choirs—one based in Acton and the other visiting from Norway—will take place at St. Mary’s Church this October, offering audiences an evening of gospel music and cross-cultural exchange. The concert will feature Sing Gospel, a local community choir led by Josh Cadman, alongside the Kristiansand Friechurch Youth Choir, directed by Ellen Frøysaa. The event is scheduled for 7:30pm on Friday 3 October at St Mary’s Church, Acton (W3 9NW). It marks a rare collaboration between the two ensembles, both known for their energetic performances and emphasis on community engagement. The programme will include a mix of gospel repertoire and contemporary arrangements, with both choirs performing together and individually. Sing Gospel has been active in West London for several years, offering regular rehearsals and performances that aim to make gospel music accessible to singers of all backgrounds. The Kristiansand Friechurch Youth Choir, based in southern Norway, is part of a wider tradition of youth-led choral music in the region and has toured internationally. The concert is open to the public and will include a licensed bar (reputed to be the cheapest in Acton). Organisers describe the event as an opportunity for residents to experience live music in a local setting while connecting with performers from abroad. Tickets cost £10 (£8 for students and U18s) plus £1 booking fee and can be purchased online.
