Public Art in Acton - Debate | ||||
Thursday 17th January at the W3 gallery
The role of public space and public art in the community will be raised during the debate as well as the street art and its impact on the city. We would like to enlarge the debate to Acton and its walls, empty or owned that you might know and that could be filled and embellished by our West London artists. Mark Wydler, Sentience artist, Carrie Reichardt, Cosmo Sarson and Zabou will be our guest during two hours. They will talk about their experience and their vison of public art and give their ideas to set up a new public art space in Acton. More info about the artists: MARK WYDLER, artist and curator of Sentience exhibition, and CARRIE REICHARDT, are both founding members of the Treatment Rooms Art Collective. This radical group of local artists has gained much notoriety in the last few years for having mosaiced a house and truck and many of the well-loved mosaics in the local schools. They are both artists who are really involved in the community. Carrie and Mark will work with the community of South Acton to promote art and interaction in the estate's public spaces. They will share their experience and their vision about what could be public art. COSMO SARSON is a street mural artist with a strong social conscious, that has done some really interesting community and public art. ZABOU, a young street artist in the East side, will talk about the street art rules! Check their websites! It is a free event, everybody is welcome!
