Acton Freight Yard Works - Drop In Session | |||||
Works expected near Acton Main Line for Crossrail
The distant rumbling of the approach of Crossrail is getting a little bit closer, as consultation is beginning for works on Acton Freight Yards - next to Acton Main Line station - intended to improve it for the new scheme. Network Rail's plan is to build a 'dive-under' - effectively a tunnel - which will allow freight vehicles to enter and leave the yard without crossing the main line tracks. This is hoped to reduce congestion, both for long-distance trains and for the Crossrail trains which will serve Acton Main Line station. A drop in session will be available for any interested residents to find out about the works. It will be at the Ramada Ealing, in the Park Lane room, between 4 and 7pm on Monday 12 December and apparently all are welcome. The full construction isn't intended to start until 2013, but there will be some minor track and signaling works between Christmas and the New Year. December 9, 2011 |
