Figures released by the Department of Education show that the majority of school children in Acton use their two feet to get themselves to school.

As part of research carried out for School Travel Planning (STP) which looked at all the problems caused by travel to and from schools during the day, the figures showed that most children walked to their primary school with bus being the second most popular mode of transport, much more popular than the tube.

Figures showed that the bus was the most popular form of transport for Acton High School pupils, with walking second. 10 pupils apparently arrive at the school in a taxi.

We understand this is currently being updated. The Council works with schools on various initiatives including WoW (walk on Wednesdays) a walking incentive programme, cycle parking, cycle training, road safety etc.
