Acton Food Festival

Celebrating the diversity of Acton through food

Sunday, 16 May, 11am to 4pm

This community event is timed to follow the gala ending of the Acton Arts Festival on 15 May at the Priory Centre. The idea is designed to bring together people, community groups and businesses in Acton with a major event highlighting through food the area's wide cultural diversity of individuals, organisations, cafes, restaurants and shops.

The main event will be held in a marquee large enough to accommodate up to 36 stalls and there will be room for separate stalls outside. The latest news update is that participants will include:

Algerian Sweets
Moroccan Bedouin food
The Olive Bar
Ian Burgill's Coffee Cart
A Taste of Home (Australian/New Zealand and South African food)
Home cooked Caribbean food
West London Organics
Allotments Society

Activities include:
Cake decorating for Kids
Kids Cookery School
Cookery demonstrations
Prize draw
Live Music

This is a community event that aims to celebrate the huge diversity in our area, to promote local business, to provide information on fair trade and healthy eating, and to give an opportunity for local organisations to raise funds and network. All organisations are welcome to raise funds through their stalls and are encouraged to invite as many as possible of their respective communities to join in the activities.

The Churchfield Community Association is promoting the event and is providing funds raised through grant applications for the main equipment, etc. CCA is not intending to raise funds other than by having its own stall and any surplus will be donated to APPLE (Acton Play Project and Leisure Events), a registered charity working with local children and young people on community events and activities.
