The South Acton Ward Panel has set its top priority for local police over the summer to be the reduction of anti-social behaviour around Cheltenham Place on the old South Acton estate.

For the next three months, the Met's local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) is expected to make active and more frequent patrols on foot and bike after the latest crime data highlighted it as a "hotspot" area.

Acting Inspector Matt Buckland said, "We will use our powers to curb anti-social behaviour to ensure the space is available for all members of the community. This will be measured through officers reporting details of their enforcement, engagement and partnership working.

"This area remains the most frequently raised issue within the ward panel survey which, along with additional information supplied by members of the panel, indicates there is still further work needs to be done."

The response comes after the latest South Acton Ward Panel meeting on 30 June at which members expressed concerns about not feeling safe around Cheltenham Place.

Peter Robertson, South Acton Ward Panel Chair, said, "Everyone who lives and works around this hotspot for anti-social behaviour will welcome what the SNT is doing to keep people feeling safe when in or around the area. It's timely now while we have the long warm evenings and as we approach the summer holidays.

"The panel is looking forward to hearing a progress report from the SNT at our next meeting at 6pm on Monday September 22nd in ActOne cinema. All are welcome. If you can't attend, you can keep up with local police activity in Acton by signing up to the new Met Engage platform at www.metengage.co.uk.

"Please be aware this is not a platform for reporting crime. To do that, you can call 101 or through the 'report a crime section' of the Met website. If it's an emergency, dial 999."

Ward panels are based on local council ward areas and made up of local residents, borough councillors, local businesses and other interested organisations. They are open to anyone living, studying or working in the ward. The panel is responsible for setting neighbourhood priorities for the local police team every quarter.
