Major Break-in at Londis in Churchfield Road | |||
Thieves knew what they were doing and came prepared
Last night in Londis there was a major break-in leaving the much-valued local corner shop seriously out of pocket. The thieves got away with around £10,000 worth of goods and cash, including the cash machine at the back of the shop which was jacked up with a special implement. When we spoke to them, the manager of the shop, Sothinathan Subramaniyam was visibly shaken and very upset. He was waiting for police to come and finger print the premises. The thieves took cigarettes and alcohol. It was not yet known how much cash was in the machine when we spoke to the men who work at the store. They also stole the film from the CCTV cameras to prevent them being identified. The men who run the shop work long hours and are a much valued and much used amenity. They have run the shop for at many years.
