Help Helps CIC aims to be there before a crisis hits

A new community organisation dedicated to helping people before their problems escalate into crisis is launching in Acton this week. Help Helps CIC will hold its official launch event on Friday 22 May at the Acton Gardens Community Centre, inviting local residents, community leaders and partner organisations to learn how its early-intervention model aims to fill a growing gap in support services across West London.

Help Helps CIC was founded on a simple belief: that too many people only receive help once they have reached breaking point. Through its “Early Reach” programme, the organisation offers confidential guidance at the first signs of difficulty, whether that involves safeguarding concerns, early indicators of domestic abuse, risks of exploitation or emotional wellbeing challenges. Crucially, the service operates outside traditional office hours, recognising that moments of uncertainty rarely happen between nine and five.

The launch event, which is free to attend, will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm and will include a session from a guest safeguarding expert. The talk aims to demystify safeguarding by explaining what it looks like in everyday life, how to spot early warning signs and what practical steps people can take to protect themselves and others. Organisers say the session reflects the organisation’s core mission: empowering people with knowledge before situations escalate.

Help Helps CIC founder Sadia Shazad said the new service responds directly to the pressures facing local families and frontline services. “Waiting lists are long, services are stretched, and too many people fall through the gaps,” she said. “Help Helps CIC exists to provide a dedicated middle ground — a place where people can come at the very first sign of a concern and receive professional, confidential advice. Our launch event is a milestone because it shows the community that they don’t have to face uncertainty alone.”

Attendees at the launch will have the opportunity to meet the team, learn how the Early Reach service works, and explore how local organisations can collaborate to identify risks earlier. The event also aims to build partnerships across West London, encouraging community groups, schools, faith organisations and residents to work together to prevent crises before they take hold.

Help Helps CIC is registered as a Community Interest Company rather than a charity and specialises in early-stage safeguarding and wellbeing support, offering out-of-hours appointments to make the service accessible to those who need it most. The organisation emphasises that its initial support is free, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to seeking help.

The launch event is open to all, with free registration available via Eventbrite. Organisers say they hope the event will spark conversations about how early intervention can strengthen communities and reduce the pressure on overstretched statutory services.
