Action West London Launches Free IT Collection Service

A new initiative from Action West London (AWL) is set to turn redundant corporate technology into training, employment and digital access for communities across West London. The charity has launched a free IT hardware collection and certified data-wiping service, inviting businesses to donate unwanted laptops, phones, tablets and servers so they can be refurbished, recycled and put back to work for local people.
Under the campaign banner “We collect it. We wipe it. We turn it into jobs,” AWL is calling on companies across Acton, Ealing, Park Royal and the wider West London area to clear out their unused tech. The charity handles everything: collection from business premises, secure processing, and redistribution into community programmes — all at no cost to the donor.
Every device undergoes certified data wiping powered by Blancco, meeting ADISA Product Assurance standards and fully compliant with NIST 800-88, IEEE 2883 and GDPR requirements. Businesses receive a tamper-proof Certificate of Destruction for each item, ensuring complete peace of mind. Once sanitised, devices are either refurbished for digital inclusion projects or recycled responsibly to support.
What sets AWL’s scheme apart is that every donated device directly funds social impact. Instead of entering commercial recycling streams, the value of each item is reinvested locally. Refurbished hardware supports families who currently lack internet access or a working computer. Revenue from recycled equipment helps deliver free employability training, giving jobseekers and young people the practical skills they need to secure work. The environmental benefits are immediate too, keeping usable electronics out of landfill and reducing carbon emissions linked to manufacturing new devices.

With the service now live, the charity hopes to build a steady pipeline of donated equipment that can be turned into opportunities for residents who need them most.
