Shush! Shisha Cafe Fined | ||||
Noisy cafe causing misery to local residents
A shisha café in Acton has been fined for making too much noise in the early hours of the morning, following an investigation by the council’s regulatory services officers. MRAD Trading Ltd, operating as the Shisha Café, 12-14 The Vale, Acton pleaded guilty to four breaches of a noise abatement notice for raised human voices and loud television noise under section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act. The business was fined £7,000 and was ordered to pay costs of £10,000. The business was prosecuted after Ealing Council’s regulatory services officers received more than 20 complaints from local residents about the level of noise coming from the café during the early hours of the morning on a number of occasions. Officers witnessed unreasonable levels of noise from the yard at the rear of the café on four occasions between May and September 2011. Susan Parsonage, director of safer communities, said: “We are pleased with the court’s decision. The noise levels being created by people visiting the café was not acceptable and was making the lives of some residents a misery. We will not tolerate businesses and residents creating unreasonable noise or disturbances and will continue to clampdown on the people responsible.”
