These beautiful displays which brighten up North Acton station have been awarded a top prize in Transport For London's Underground in Bloom competition. They scooped the cultivated garden award and were also runner up in the best overall garden section.

Station supervisor, Bharat Vagani, along with colleagues Terry Morralle and Abraham Soubair produced two raised beds from recycled materials. All this gardening work done in their own free time.

The prizes were awarded at City Hall yesterday. The team of judges agreed that the standard of entries was extremely high this year.

Howard Collins, Chief Operating Officer for London Underground, said: 'Every year the standard of entries seems to grow and grow. 'I'd like to thank everybody for their hard work and the way they have transformed our stations into bright and colourful places for our customers to enjoy.'These awards recognise the great effort all our staff have made.'
 
This year over 70 stations, depots and service control rooms took part in the competition.

Acton Town was a runner up in the Dennis Sanger Chief Operating Officer 'Special' Award.
