Acton Woman Charged With Cannabis Smuggling

A 50-year-old woman from Acton has been charged with smuggling approximately £60,000 of cannabis into Gatwick Airport.

Marcia Cyinthia Rattray, of Wendell Road, Acton, London, arrived at the airport’s North Terminal around 9am on Friday 14 September after disembarking a flight from Kingston, Jamaica.

Border Force officers found the class B drugs amongst confectionary, biscuits and packets of soap in a suitcase. The seizure weighed around 23 kilos.

She was arrested and charged with attempting to import a class B drug and appeared at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 15 September.

She was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the same court on Friday 21 September Dean Oughton, of Border Force, said:

'' As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day every day of the year, to keep drugs, other smuggled items and illegal persons out of the UK.
