Rupa Huq says Rowshan Huq sadly passed away on Sunday

Rupa, Konnie and Nutun Huq wish to communicate the passing of their beloved mother Rowshan Ara Huq the afternoon, 21st of May 2017.

Rowshan, a member of the Ealing community since 1964 was a pillar of strength to her family, and has been characteristically fighting these past few weeks and months against long illness that she has now succumbed to.

Konnie wrote about her mum in My family values in The Guardian in 2010.

Rupa said "Its been a difficult time of late for all of us and we're full of sorrow that our last remaining parent, final link to a pioneering generation who made Ealing their home and loved their community is no more".

Funeral prayers were said at Acton mosque yesterday followed by burial at Greenford.
