The multi-billion project to reduce sewage overflow into the Thames will involved the construction of a super-sewer in Acton. The storm relief site is currently planned to be situation on Warple Way.

The planned works could mean months of disruption for residents and businesses near-by.

We asked Ealing Council for their reaction to the news. Their spokesman told us:"While the preferred site and proposed route will affect a small proportion of residents, the financial implications will affect everyone in the borough and we encourage all residents to take the opportunity to have their say about these proposals, by completing the online consultation or attending the exhibition in Acton Library.

"We will continue to monitor the proposals and work with Thames Water to ensure that there is minimal disruption for our residents."

See box, right for details of the public exhibition on the project in Acton Library which starts on September 27th.

Earlier this week, a spokesman for Thames had said the company remains "flexible" on the proposals.
