Average price surges as attention switches back to top end

The Acton property market has made a strong start to the year according to the latest figures from the Land Registry.
The average price of a property sold in the W3 post code area during January was £413,912. There have been 66 homes sold during that period. This suggests that local property prices are sustaining the high level seen at the end of last year. 17 of the units sold during the month were in Napier House on Bromyard Avenue. As these were generally cheaper than the overall market average the underlying trend may be for further price increases across the board.
The most expensive property sold in Acton during this time was on Strelly Way costing £1,000,000.
According to the Land Registry, London property prices continue to lead the rest of the country rising by 7.1% in January compared with the same month in 2012. The average price of a home in the capital is now £373,207. For England and Wales as a whole over the same period average prices rose by just 1.0% to reach £162,441.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during November 2012, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales increased by 1 per cent to 61,091 compared with 60,369 in November 2011. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million in November 2012 increased by 19 per cent to 657 from 554 in November 2011.
