The 19th Century Goldsmiths Arms in East Acton has been designated as an Asset of Community Value and the search is on to find new owners.

The Goldsmiths Arms Acton

The pub has been at the site at 130 East Acton Lane since 1826 and was a popular traditional style drinking establishment with a large beer garden.

The building has a local listing and Ealing Council say the property and land has now been designated an asset of community value. An asset of community value is a building or other land, the main use of which furthers the social wellbeing or social interests of the local community.

This gives some protection for future uses for the site and the owner must ' notify the nominating body and advertise if they intend to sell and give the nominating body 6 months in which to put together a proposal to buy the asset if they so wish.'

The Central Acton Neighbourhood Forum (Canf) say the campaign to save the pub is already underway and meetings have been held to gauge local opinion.

CAMRA's believed to have agreed to be involved and the hunt is on to find new owners. Residents are contacting breweries & pub/restaurant chains.

The owner was Greene King who operated it under the Flaming Grill brand.

We contacted them for an update about their plans for the pub but are yet to receive a response.
