A strong quartet, led by a violinist, who has appeared in three Promenade concerts this season, as well as being an active allotmenteer, will be the stars at the Acton Gardening association’s Open Day on Sunday.
Violinist Laura Samuel lives in Acton and has had a plot for just two years.

Chief guest is author and agricultural activist Colin Tudge and his wife Ruth West , leader of the Real Bread movement. Tudge will be signing his books like the Secret Life of Trees and Food For The Future.
Also appearing will be Acton bee expert John Chapple, who is also chairman of the London Beekeepers. He will speakand answer questions with his glass beehive.

Secretary Michael Wale says : “ There will be home made food and cakes, as well as a plant sale But most of all I’m really excited that our star violinist and allotmenteer Laura Samuel will play in a quartet. It always worries me to see her digging and weeding her plot the day before a Promenade conert in case she hurts her hands. She has played in three Promenade concerts this season, so the allotment must be doing her good”.

There will also be a display of chickens, plenty of home made food and cakes and a plant sale

The Open Day is staged in Bromyard avenue from noon till 4pm.
