Acton Cricket Club is holding Open Days this weekend (Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March) to give people a chance to see what the club is about.

Starting at noon and aimed at young cricketers, the two hour events will be taking place at the club’s home ground at Club Des Sports on East Acton Lane. There will be a chance to sign up for junior sessions taking place this summer.

2022 is a particularly big year for Acton CC, as it has been fundraising for a new clubhouse and pavilion, with building work having just commenced.

The sessions are suitable for all children from ages 6 to 15. The club has a number of qualified coaches who are well placed to help juniors enjoy the game and improve. It is planning to run teams at under-15, under-14, under-13, under-12, under-11, under-10 and under-9 level this season.

You don’t need to bring anything, just walk in and fill out a form to sign your child up.

Acton CC play in the Middlesex League and Cup and have had success with advancing players into the Middlesex pathway all the way to the county age-group squads. For older teenagers, it also runs an under-21 team (which is suitable for anyone age 16+) on Sundays.

It also has four senior teams on Saturdays and two on a Sunday, which juniors can progress towards, building a life-long love of cricket as part of what describes itself as a friendly and welcoming club.

The club also hosts a series of camps during the holidays, including the popular Easter Camp run by partners, West London Cricket Academy.

The club says, “If you already play and are looking for a new club, someone who has played a bit in school and wants to improve or play more, or someone who just wants to try cricket out, come along and give us a try.”

Sessions begin on Monday 4 April at 5:30 PM, and run for 20 weeks. For a full summer worth of sessions and matches, the fees are £150. Holiday camps are paid for separately.

To keep the sport accessible, the club offers a number of concessions/payment options, which you can discuss with a club rep on the day.
