A number of top authors are appearing in Acton as part of the Ealing Literary Festival. The events include well known names such as Will Self and, local resident, Toby Young talking about their writing as well as story telling for children and poetry at the Acton Carnival.

Friday 10 July

Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, journalist and author talks about her book The Settler’s Cookbook

This is a warm, personal memoir from one of Britain's most high-profile and vocal immigrants - a mouth-watering exploration of the author's East African Indian roots through the shared experience of cooking. Through the personal story of Yasmin's family and the food and recipes they've shared together, The Settler's Cookbook tells the history of the Indian migration to the UK, via East Africa. Plus writers Jacob Ross and Olive Senior discussing themes in Caribbean literature.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People - Q&A session with Toby Young

Off the Page: Script Showcase

This event will be a rehearsed reading of scripts. Members of Off the Page writing group will be showcasing a selection of their scripts for stage and screen. Off the Page meets every month to hear and discuss each other's work.
