Members of the Acton Central Neighbourhood Watch working with the Acton Central policing team were involved in a Community Roadwatch exercise this Monday (31 July).

Positioned at various locations in the ward including Churchfield Road and East Acton Lane they caught 62 cars and one bus exceeding the speed limit.

Community Roadwatch is a road safety initiative which aims to reduce speeding in residential areas. It gives local residents the opportunity to work side by side with their local police teams, and use speed detection equipment to identify speeding vehicles in their communities.

Other offences were also detected during the exercise including driving while using a mobile phone.

Warning letters will be issued where appropriate, and the information can help to inform the future activity of local police teams.

Volunteers receive appropriate training, and are supported by neighbourhood policing team.
