Michelle Smith has had a great response to her Community Poetry programme. Perhaps you will already have spotted some of the wonderful entries.

We are reproducing a few below - see how many you can spot as you walk the streets of Acton.

Michelle said: "I'm really amazed how many poems were submitted. We had about 40 poems in total from age 5-40. I always knew Acton could be the sort of place where people would appreciate an initiative like Community Poetry.

"I hope everyone will take the time to read the poems. It's a great way of looking at our community differently."

Michelle particularly wanted to thank Ann Johnson, Head of English at Acton High. Many pupils at the school sent in their poems and designed backgrounds for them, too.

HIBERNATE

Winter is merry, winter is cold,
I try to catch a leaf to hold.

To hold a leaf is merry to do,
But quick spring is coming
with skies so blue.

I want to go inside
when the freezing wind comes in,
I disappear into the magic store
shut the curtains, close the door.

Kit, age 7

When the cold seeps
in, an icy glow,a
freezing stare,as
white as clouds on a sunny day, the
emotions of winter is
hard to read with it's
unsympathetic breeze,
it carefree snow,
anger from it's
powerful blizzards.

Winter is a really nice time
When Mummies and Daddies
Drink lots of wine
Winter is really cold
And my mummy looks really old.
Winter can be very snowy
And the wind is very blowy.

Winter is a snowflake
ready to melt.
On your tongue soft as felt.
Dark nights about to be light
Decorations are a beautiful sight.
On Christmas day there is a treat
A special dinner ready to eat.
