A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a man's body in a cemetery in Acton on Wednesday morning.

Gerard Thomas Knightley aged 22has been charged with the murder of local man Martin Gonsell aged 47.

Another man and a woman were also arrested the morning after the body was discovered. The woman was later released without charge with the man bailed to return in August.

A postmortem found cause of death to be a subdural haemorrhage.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed an altercation involving a number of people in the vicinity of Churchfield Road, between 1200 and 0200 on the 9.6.04, to contact the incident room at Hendon on 020 8358 0100.

The inquiry is headed by DCI Geoff Baker.
