A three-day Polish Festival will be held at Acton Market as part of ten days
of festivities to celebrate the holiday season, Action Acton announced
today. (For a full list of events, see box, right)
The Polish Festival, to be held from 17-19 December, will feature over 20 stalls selling Polish delicacies including pancakes, dumplings, and sweets.
There will also be other stalls selling amber jewellery, arts and crafts. All the items will be direct from Poland. There will also be performances of traditional Polish music and dancing throughout the three days. The Polish Festival will be a great draw for the growing number of Acton residents with
roots in Poland and Eastern Europe.
"We hope that our local Polish community will join together with all of Acton to celebrate in the Town Square,' says Acton Market Manager Alex Watson. "Acton Market will be the centre for Acton's celebration of the festive season."
Ten days of special Winter Festival markets and events will take place at Acton Market, beginning with a tree-lighting ceremony at 5pm on Friday December 14th at the large tree outside Morrison's supermarket. Throughout the week, there will be carol singers, live music and market stalls selling
handcrafted gifts including jewellery, clothing and art. Father Christmas will be in his grotto on Saturday 22nd to hand out presents to young children.
Christmas at Acton Farmers' Market
This Christmas, make your Christmas dinner extra-special, extra-fresh and local by coming along to Acton farmers’ market every Sunday from 10am until 2pm
We’ll have free range turkeys and geese from Food Fore Thought – www.wickhammanor.co.uk (01797 226 216)
Christmas cakes and edible decorations courtesy of the Great Little Food Company
Hand-made Christmas puddings from Alham Wood.
There’ll also be festive mince pies to nibble on, thanks to the Celtic Bakers, from Cricklewood.
On the 23rd December, Sadie Jennings of Kush Cuisine www.kushcuisine.com will be bringing along a new range of seasonal pickles and preserves, including a festive hamper containing apple and cranberry jam, strawberry, fig and orange jam and five-fruit and whisky marmalade.
Lincolnshire Poacher’s cheese will be at market on the 15th December – their last appearance before the new year, so don’t miss them on that date if you want to stock up your cheeseboards.
Harvest Bakery will be coming down from Bedfordshire with a special seasonal range on top of their usual range of pies. This will include a five-bird pie (containing turkey, duck, chicken, goose and guinea-fowl), a pork and chicken pie and their award-winning mincemeat tart.
You won’t even have to worry about catching a chill at the markets this December, as Millets Fruits will be providing hot spiced apple juice!
We’ll also have Flour Power Bakery’s delicious stollen, and of course all the seasonal vegetables (Brussels sprouts on stalks, celeriac, parsnips, carrots, squash etc.) you’ll need to make Christmas dinner complete.
Acton Market is located on The Mount/King Street in Acton Town Centre.
