Monday 26th October to Friday 30th October

10am to 3pm each day.

The half term holiday project - "A Cultural Week of Dance, Music and Arts" celebrating Black History Month - has been made possible by sponsorship from Ealing & Brentford Consolidated Charity with a 'Grassroots Grant' and support from the Acton Safer Neighbourhood Team.

It's for children and young people aged 6 to 16+, who'd like to spend their half term dancing, singing, acting and enjoying the arts. This long-running project, now in its 10th year, offers an exciting week to young people in the Acton and Ealing area, many of whom come back every year, but welcomes young people of any background who'd like to take part in music and dance workshops, try out some acting and drumming and get the chance to perform on Friday afternoon in front of family members. Young people work in groups according to their age and interest. Dance styles include African, Jazz and Street. No experience necessary, just buckets of enthusiasm.

The week is organised by Descendants, a group founded in 1993 for children and young people of African and Caribbean origin, celebrating African and Caribbean culture and achievements through a wide range of activities focussed round their regular Friday evening activities at the Priory. However, we want to stress that this half-term project is open to ALL young people (6-16), and Descendants lead this project in partnership with award-winning authentic jazz dance company the Jiving Lindy Hoppers, Essequibo Music and YSB Arts.

Cost: £5 a day or £20 for the whole week, to be paid in advance.

(Subject to availability, registration will also be on Monday 26th at 9.30am, however to be guaranteed of a place/s, pls. phone in advance).
