Man Jailed for East Acton Station Sexual Assault

A sexual assault on a woman at East Acton underground station was one of series of attacks carried out by an 18-year-old man across the London Underground network last summer. The perpetrator, Hadi Al Koumi, of Bideford Avenue, Perivale, was sentenced on 12 September at Isleworth Crown Court to four years and eight months in prison for four separate offences committed over three days last summer.

The East Acton attack took place on 8 August 2024 at approximately 4:20pm, when a woman in her forties was using her phone on the station platform. Al Koumi approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The incident was linked by British Transport Police (BTP) to other similar offences through CCTV footage and witness accounts.

Earlier that same day, at 2:40pm, a woman in her thirties was assaulted at Green Park station. Al Koumi walked up behind her, committed the offence, and then walked away—turning back to wink at the victim. Two days prior, on 6 August, he had assaulted another woman at St John’s Wood station as she attempted to board a train.

Later on 8 August, at around 11:15pm, a fourth victim was targeted on a train travelling between Greenford and Perivale. After attempting to engage her in conversation and being asked to stop, Al Koumi stood and assaulted her. The victim managed to throw a glass at him and escape the train before contacting emergency services.

Following an investigation, BTP officers identified Al Koumi on CCTV at each location and circulated his image. He was arrested on 27 August by officers from the North Tasking Unit while on patrol at Perivale station.

Al Koumi pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault and was found guilty of a fourth. In addition to his prison sentence, he was issued with a six-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Nolan of BTP described Al Koumi as a “dangerous predator” who exploited the rail network to target women. “I’m grateful to see the sentencing handed down today, and I hope it can bring some sense of closure and comfort to the women he targeted,” he said.

BTP reiterated its zero-tolerance approach to sexual offences and reminded passengers that they can discreetly report incidents by texting 61016.
