An appeal is being made for witnesses and information following an attack on a woman on Twyford Abbey Road in the early hours of Monday (19 July).

The victim, who is in her forties, says she was approached by a man who was not known to her at around 1.45am. He grabbed her by the throat and then sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as being dressed in dark clothing and is believed to be aged between 20 and 25.

Police officers are currently providing support to the victim.

Detective Constable Christine Denney, from the West Area Public Protection Team, said, "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and who saw this incident, or witnessed a man fleeing the scene, to contact us immediately.

"Any information you have could prove vital in helping us identifying and apprehending this person."
