Reports of large amounts of blood on the pavement on Horn Lane were reported 10 days ago on the discussion forum.

Despite residents asking around, no one seemed to know what incident had resulted in the stains which alarmed passers-by.

We asked Ealing Borough Police to comment and today they have given us as much information as they can.

The spokesman said: "The incident in Horn Lane stemmed from an alleged assault outside Morrisons at about 1:00am on the date in question (07/09/2009).

"The victim, who had been drinking and sustained a cut hand, stated that he did not know the assailant and refused to assist Police in any way so the matter could not be progressed.

"The victim was discharged from hospital after treatment."
