The building is a newsagent, which has its main entrance on Bollo Bridge Road. The side entrance faces Stratford Road and gives access to the storeroom which was secured by a metal gate behind the door. The door was left open to assist ventilation but the gate was closed.

The men arrested were Danny James Smith, aged 20 years a plasterer of Birkbeck Avenue, Acton, John Joe Smith, aged 18 years, unemployed of the same address and a 16 year old, unemployed male from Tentelow Lane, Southall. They are to charged with non residential Burglary at Hursh Newsagents, No 96, Bollo Bridge Road, Acton, W3

As police drove past the venue they witnessed the three males leaning into the storeroom through an open cage door. The proprietor stated the cage door had been locked and indicated they heard it being opened a short time before police arrived.
