Police were called at 12:35am on Monday this week to reports of an attempted burglary at a house in East Acton Lane.

Officers arrived on scene a short time later and were informed by the occupant that at 12:25am a young white man wearing an orange t-shirt had knocked on the front door asking to speak to "Emily".

The occupant, a woman in her 80's, spoke to the young man through her closed door and told him there was no one called Emily living there.

She saw the young man speak to two men on the footpath outside the house. They then left. One man was white, aged around 20 years and wearing a white t-shirt and the other was black, aged around 25 and wearing dark clothing.

A short time later the two men knocked on the door and left when the woman didn't answer. However, they then then went around to the back of the house and tried to force their way in via the back door causing approximately £200 of damage.

Luckily, they failed to get in and left. The 80-year-old woman then called the Police who arrested a 15-year-old youth from Shepherds Bush, on suspicion of attempted Burglary. The youth was found hiding from police in the front garden of an address in Norbroke Street, East Acton.

He has now been bailed to return to Acton Police Station on 21st July pending further enquiries.
