Ealing Council announced this week that more than 100 new build homes are a step closer to completion after a major milestone was reached in the regeneration of South Acton Estate.

The Council, with partners Catalyst Housing and Inspace Partnerships, on Friday marked the completion of building work south of Bollo Bridge Road with a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony.

One hundred and twenty-nine new build homes for rent or shared ownership will be delivered under this phase and are expected to be fully complete by spring 2010. A further 125 new homes will follow under the next phase and will be completed by mid 2012.

The new homes are part of the redevelopment of the entire South Acton Estate, which aims to improve residents’ quality of life through better building design, community facilities, landscaping and public spaces.

Ealing Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Will Brooks, said: “It’s fantastic to see the transformation at the South Acton Estate. The improvements will deliver not just high-quality homes for residents, but also create safer, more attractive neighbourhoods that will benefit the broader Acton community.”

The council is currently working with residents to choose a developer partner to complete the regeneration of the estate, creating a housing development that capitalises on South Acton’s excellent location and good public transport links.
