The Blue Cross stall, a fixture at Acton Market every Saturday has raised a whopping £3600 this year, thanks to the generosity of Acton shoppers, says the stall's organisers.

Mary Lancaster and Mandy Meehan have spent nearly every Saturday, rain or shine, on Acton Market, selling bric-a-brac, clothes, toys, books and other items to raise money for the Blue Cross, a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of sick and unwanted pets.

Lancaster, who keeps all of the items not sold in her house during the week, says donations are up nearly a thousand pounds on 2009's takings.

"We're always looking for donations too, so after Christmas, people can bring items down to the stall for us to sell."   Mary can also be contacted in the afternoons on 020 8723 8375 to arrange pickup of donations.
