Beat the February blues with free guided walking tours of London

International Tourist Guide Day; Saturday 21st February 2004

On Saturday 21st February Blue Badge guides celebrate International Tourist Guide Day by offering their services for free. This year's theme for ITG Day in Britain is Blue. Come along and enjoy the skills of a professional Blue Badge Guide.

London events will be accompanied by a quiz with great London prizes, including weekend breaks in a top hotel, with a private sightseeing tour of London with a Blue Badge Driver-Guide. There will be free London Passes (allows free entry to London attractions) and surprise goodies for winners.

Collect a quiz leaflet from a Blue Badge guide at the start point of the two DIY walks, or from the Blue Badge guide leading any of the guided walks.

In London there will be ten walking tours with Blue Badge guides, plus two "DIY" (do it yourself) walking tours, as well as various charitable events for community groups, including the elderly and special needs.

To join a guided walk, completely free of charge, just turn up. There is a maximum of thirty on the fully guided walks - first come, first served.

For a more leisurely approach, there will be two "DIY" tours, focused around the pedestrian-friendly Thames riverbank. Blue Badge guides will be prominently posted at four key points along the route of these walks, to explain, expound, entertain and answer any questions.

ITG Day has been generously supported by the London Development Agency (LDA), funded by the Greater London Authority, and by Visit London, in conjunction with the Totally London campaign, and the forthcoming GO LONDON programme.
