A motorcyclist has lost his leg after being hit by a car on Gunnersbury Lane this Sunday (21 Acton).

The collision occurred near the junction with Lillian Avenue at around 7.10pm.

The 45-year-man was taken to hospital where his left leg had to be amputated below the knee.

The car involved, a silver Mercedes Benz saloon, did not stop at the scene but was found a short distance away. The driver ran off along an alley that runs between two houses in Lillian Avenue and is still being sought by police.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Unit investigate and are asking anyone witnessed the incident or has any information to contact them.

In particular, officers are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage, who was in the area near the time and date of the collision to the contact them.
