Work Club Opens In Acton

Offering new opportunities to the unemployed

A new work club offering practical support and advice to the unemployed has opened in Acton today ( Monday, 15 July).

The work club at Acton Vale Community Centre, off Beech Avenue, Acton Vale Estate, W3 7JZ will be open every Monday from 10am - 1pm.

It will offer help to write CVs, search for jobs, fill out applications and prepare for interviews.

Advice on starting a business, careers, online training and support for those who speak English as a second language will also be available.

Current work clubs are already set up in Ealing, Copley Close and Northolt. Cabinet Member for Housing, Employment and Skills, Councillor Hitesh Tailor, will launch the work club.

He said: “I am delighted that we have set this work club up in East Acton. This area has many residents who could use support in gaining skills and the confidence to improve their chances of finding work and avoid losing their homes due to the benefit changes.

“I am also pleased that we will be using new computers for the work club funded by developers of new homes on nearby Bromyard Avenue as part of its planning agreement with the council.”
