Police who managed to evict travellers who'd taken up residence in a former John Lewis building in Acton commented on the horrendous mess and damage left behind.

The group based at the site on Victoria Road were served a notice after violating a code of conduct warning.

The images - released on twitter by Acton police - revealed the extent of the damage - the building had been stripped of copper pipes and there was heaps of rubbish piled up.

Police tweeted '' It is amazing that so much damage could be caused in such little time. Imagine if they had stayed 2 weeks. #Miserable ''

The caravans moved on February 24th
