Anyone claiming a bicycle will need to provide proof of ownership and identity, such as a frame number, a receipt, a photograph of the bike and/or personal knowledge of the bicycle.

Many of the images are also on the Met's Flickr channel so that people can also view them on-line.

Additionally on Sunday, mechanics from PemPeople Bike Project will be on hand to deliver advice and minor repairs free of charge.

People can also bring their bikes to be security marked by police.

Sergeant Ian Ring, Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "The Met has recovered a lot of stolen bicycles, which are still to be claimed.

"People are obviously devastated when their cherished bicycle is stolen and they have to replace it or do without.

"We would like to see these bikes in our possession reunited with their rightful owners. If you have been a victim of cycle theft and think one of these bikes is yours, please come to the open day."
